You mentioned that you couldn't join because there were too many people. That depends on the realm. If the realm is very popular at peak times the player and donator slots will both be full. To get around this you can purchase a donator rank to get priority access to join the realm. You can find the prices and perks that come along with the donator Ranks on the store.
